Memories of Kitty Keller
Blog Home All Blogs
On December 11, 2018 we lost Kate Van Winkle Keller (Kitty), the first Executive Director of SAM, originally the Sonneck Society. So many fine memories and remembrances. This page is dedicated to her. Please feel free to post any thoughts.

Cherished Society Members, I am saddened to learn that Kitty has been “called back” as Emily Dickinson would say. My mother noted that it was the presence of a piano that made a house, a home. Similarly, I would say that it was the presence of Kitty that made a scholarly society into a family. My gratitude to her for all that she contributed to the Sonneck Society and to SAM. My heartfelt condolences to Bob. Ron Pen

Remembrances

Kitty welcomed me as a young person and grad student to Sonneck many years ago; she encouraged me to get involved right away. I appreciated many things about her—this is a loss to be sure. I had missed seeing her at the last several conferences. ~ Linda Pohly
